Sounds like his timeline is the same as mine: Transitioned from print to ebooks 10 years ago. I wonder whether the impetus for him was the same as for me: Availability of the Kindle app on the iPad.

I wasn't going to spring several hundred dollars for a dedicated ereader, but I was OK reading on the iPad. A year later, when the Kindle came down to $200 or so, I bought one of those.
